As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable practices, PT Elnusa Petrofin (EPN)—a subsidiary of PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA)—took tangible action through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program by donating 100 used tank truck tires to the Teluk Kabung Tengah Subdistrict in Padang, West Sumatra, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The donation supports the implementation of Appostraps, an innovative solution for coastal erosion mitigation.
The ceremonial handover was attended by Elnusa Petrofin’s Corporate Communication & Relations Manager Putiarsa Bagus Wibowo, Area II Transportation Operations Manager Agus Sofyan Manurung, Bungus Teluk Kabung Subdistrict Head Harnoldi, Indonesian Navy Marine Security (Aspotmar) Commander of Lantamal II Padang Lt. Col. (Navy) Octav Bayu Dirgantara, and Teluk Kabung Tengah Subdistrict Head Febri Yeni.
The donation was officially handed over at the Bungus Teluk Kabung Subdistrict Office by Elnusa Petrofin’s Corporate Communication & Relations Manager to the Teluk Kabung Tengah Subdistrict Head, witnessed by the Commander of Lantamal II Padang, community leaders, and local stakeholders—representing a strong cross-sectoral collaboration.
Appostraps (Wave Breaker, Wave Energy Dissipator, and Sediment Traps) is a low-cost, easy-to-implement, and sustainable innovation that utilizes used operational tires as the primary material. These tires function to reduce the energy of ocean waves and trap sediment, helping to naturally slow coastal erosion.
This initiative aligns with the zero-waste principle by repurposing operational waste into an ecological solution, thereby minimizing environmental pollution. It also reflects Elnusa Petrofin’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, by applying circular economy principles and promoting wiser resource utilization.
Held at the Bungus Teluk Kabung Subdistrict Office, the donation ceremony was warmly welcomed by residents and local government representatives. The tires were officially handed over by Elnusa Petrofin to the subdistrict authorities, with support from local community leaders and representatives from Lantamal II Padang.
