Celebrating World Environment Day, PT Elnusa Petrofin Grows Energy Distribution Lines by Planting 9,292 Trees in the Last Three Years

As a form of commitment to Net Zero Emission in 2060 and environmental preservation, PT Elnusa Petrofin (EPN), a subsidiary of PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA), has implemented the Petrofin Forest CSR Programme in the form of planting 9,292 trees in a sustainable manner along the energy distribution lines throughout its operating units in Indonesia.

This programme has been implemented since 2023 until mid-2025 in commemoration of World Environment Day. This initiative is a flagship programme in the Petrofin Peduli pillar, #PetrofinResik in line with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 13: Addressing Climate Change.

All plantings were carried out in various operational areas of PT Elnusa Petrofin spread from West to East Indonesia. The types of plants planted are selected based on their ability to absorb high carbon emissions and have adaptability to the environment around the planting.

Since 2023, 2,532 trees have been planted and continued in 2024 with a total of 5,295 trees planted. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2025, Elnusa Petrofin has successfully planted 1,465 trees in some of its operating units. The types of trees planted vary, such as Trembesi, Bamboo, and Mangrove, to support climate change mitigation efforts and improve environmental quality around the fuel distribution line.

To symbolise this activity, 700 Japanese Bamboo trees were symbolically planted at the Semper Depot, North Jakarta, on 28 May 2025. ”This activity is part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme initiative titled Petrofin Forest, which aims to build a green ecosystem and support the reduction of carbon emissions in a sustainable manner.” Said PT Elnusa Petrofin’s Communication and Relations Manager, Putiarsa Bagus Wibowo.

Putiarsa also explained that this tree planting was carried out in coordination with local government institutions, as was the case in the Semper Depot Operations Unit which was carried out on the recommendation and coordination with the North Jakarta City Health Office. In Sibolga City, Elnusa Petrofin received appreciation from the Sibolga City Tourism, Youth and Sports Office for planting Trembesi at the end of May 2025.

”Since 2023 until the first quarter of 2025, we have planted a total of 9,292 trees in all operating units. The types of trees vary, ranging from trembesi, bamboo, to mangroves that we choose based on their ability to absorb carbon and suitability to the surrounding environmental conditions”.

Putiarsa hopes that this programme will be routinely implemented according to the roadmap that is part of Elnusa Petrofin’s long-term strategy in integrating sustainability practices into the energy distribution channels managed by the company.
