PT Elnusa Petrofin (EPN), has shown its commitment in implementing various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs through Petrofin Peduli throughout 2023. A total of 993 CSR activities have been successfully organized in various operating unit areas spread throughout Indonesia, with a variety of activities that support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or the Sustainable Development Agenda. This success has benefited 70,152 beneficiaries throughout Indonesia.
With the contributions made, in 2024 Elnusa Petrofin has a target to carry out more than 1,000 CSR activities. The focus of the CSR program will be on training activities to increase community competence and fostering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Ring 1 area of the operating unit. EPN’s five operating businesses, namely Transportation, Joint Operation & Infrastructure, Fuel Service & Petrochemical Operation, and Chemical, will carry out these activities regularly every month, covering the 5 Pillars of Petrofin Peduli.
Putiarsa Bagus Wibowo, Manager Corporate Communication & Relations of PT Elnusa Petrofin, stated that the CSR implementation is designed to address social issues and needs of the community and the environment. “In 2024, EPN targets to achieve 8 SDGs targets, such as (2) Ending Hunger, (3) Healthy and Prosperous Life, (4) Quality Education, (8) Decent Work & Economic Growth, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (12) Sustainable Consumption and Production, (13) Handling Climate Change, and (15) Safeguarding Ecosystems.” he said.
Putiarsa added that MSME development is an integral part of the company’s efforts to support local economic growth. “CSR that is run as a flagship program will be monitored in accordance with the Road Map until they are able to be independent or exit the program,” explained Putiarsa.
For example, in the Mangrove Forest conservation Program in Juru Sebrang, Belitung Regency, as the Assisted Village of EPN’s operating unit in Fuel Terminal Tanjung Pandan, in early February 2024, an increase in the number of mangrove nursery houses and tree planting has been carried out to accelerate the recovery of critical land, in line with the Government’s Net Zero Emission Program.
Putiarsa explained that the mangrove conservation program will be implemented in the form of interesting educational tours to increase the number of visitors to the location, with the addition of interpretation boards and photo spots that pamper tourists.
To support the economic growth of communities in other operating units, Putiarsa explained that in 2024 Elnusa Petrofin innovated by organizing the UMKM Academy program. The program aims to increase the development of new MSMEs targeted at Karang Taruna, Community Groups, PKK, and BUMDes, which are developed based on local potential in the vicinity.
Through this MSME program strategy, it is expected to be able to produce other new MSMEs as EPN’s fostered which can have an impact on reducing open unemployment in the local area as has been done, namely the creation of the Songket Ikat Weaving Craftswomen Group in Reo, West Manggarai Regency and processed local specialty food products packaged in the form of chips and snacks in the Ogan Komering Ilir, Gunung Sitoli and Jambi regions.
As a record of the company’s consistency in holding CSR programs during 2023, EPN has received appreciation from the local government through CSR programs that have been implemented. Some of the awards received include the Waste Bank Program Contribution Award from the Cilegon Environmental Agency, the Gunung Sitoli City BKKBN Award for contribution in Preventing Stunting, the Elnusa Petrofin Award in the Social Movement Universe Preventing Stunting in Medan, the Banjarmasin City Main Category Climate Village (Proklim) Award, and the 1st Champion of Quality Family Village at the Banjarmasin City Level.
