Elnusa Petrofin (EPN), a subsidiary of Elnusa Tbk (ELSA), was awarded the Indonesia Best Companies in HSE Implementation 2023 award from SWA Media in Jakarta on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
The implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety (K3) regulations, as stipulated by the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 50 of 2012, mandates each company to implement an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3). This applies especially to companies with high potential for high risk, such as those in the oil and gas, manufacturing, mining, construction services, electricity, hospitals and other related industries.
To recognize and encourage the implementation of K3, and to identify companies that excel in Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE) across various industrial sectors, SWA Media Group initiated the “Indonesia Best Companies in HSE Implementation 2023” selection event. This event was held for the first time, aiming to highlight companies that have implemented K3 and HSSE excellence effectively.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition given, President Director of PT Elnusa Petrofin Aditya Budi Prabowo remarked that Elnusa Petrofin views K3 management as an integral part of a broader business management system, encompassing Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE) factors. By consistently implementing a K3 management system or HSE Management System, companies can improve their productivity and competitiveness in their respective sectors. “K3 management requires a continuous and sustainable approach to develop and maintain occupational health and safety, similar to running a marathon.” Aditya concluded.
Kemal E. Gani, Group Chief Editor of SWA Media, explained “the goal of the Indonesia Best Companies in HSE Implementation 2023 event is to identify best practices for HSSE Excellence in implementing K3, which can serve as a reference and inspiration for other companies to enhance their K3 program.” Additionally, the award aims to encourage companies to run employee protection programs beyond regulatory compliance, enabling room for innovation, including utilizing digital technology. The award also aims to foster a K3 culture, ensuring employee comfort, satisfaction, and well-being at work.
In this event, SWA presented a number of independent experts and SMK3 Practitioners as the Jury. Arief Safari, MBA, a member of the 2020-2023 BPKN Research and Development Commission who previously served as the President Director of PT Sucofindo (Persero); Dr. Eng. Agus Setyawan, SSi., MSI (the Deputy Academic Director of Diponegoro University); Winardo Mardanus ( expert in K3 and the Main Director of PT Garda Integra Solusindo); Dr. Ir. Rudiyanto, Dip. ISM, MIIRSM, MBA, (The Main Director of PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia); and Prof. Dra. Fatma Lestari, MSi., Ph.D, ( Head of Disaster Risk University of Indonesia Reduction Center).
The assessment for the award focuses on Mitigating Risk, Improving Productivity, and Creating Sustainable Employability in each participating company, covering 7 aspects: leadership, strategy, stakeholders, employees, operations, results, and measurement. The plenary panel of the jury determined the winners of the Excellent (score ≥90), Very Good (score 80 – <90), and Good (score 70 – <80) categories based on the assessment of these 7 aspects The companies that were selected as champions (both Excellent and Very Good) already have certification related to the implementation of K3 (ISO 45001/SMK3 from the Ministry of Manpower).
Among the companies that received the award were PT Badak NGL, PT Elnusa Petrofin, PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk, RDMP RU VI Balongan Phase 1 Project – PT Pertamina Internasional Refinery, PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk, and PT Tjiwi Kimia Tbk Paper Factory.
